Old Mackinaw Point Lighthouse-lakeside view. I had painted this light before, but I never painted the lakeside view. I came across the architectural prints in the SOM museum archives and it shows a lighthouse with embattlement on the roof top. I could not remember seeing a lighthouse with a “castle look” in the Straits area. So we drove on a cold sunny day in March from Lansing to Mackinaw City to look for it. After roaming around with no luck, we stopped at the Mackinaw Pt. Lt and got out for a walk along the lake. In looking back over my shoulder there was the “castle”. This view at night is also a Christmas card. All prints come with a brief history of the lighthouse and the artist.
Small and large prints are shipped gently rolled into a postal tube for maximum protection. They do not have mats or frames to give the recipients the opportunity to choose to suit their own style.
